What Is Claude AI Good For?

Here’s All the GOOD Bits:

  • AI’s now standard in the marketing department – McKinsey’s global survey found that 88% of organisations now report regular AI use in at least one business function, with marketing and sales among the top areas for measurable returns.
  • Choose Claude for copy – Independent comparisons consistently rate Claude strongest for tone, nuance, and following instructions on long-form content.
  • There’s more to Claude than chat Anthropic’s own usage data shows 93% of conversations produce a concrete output, like an explanation or a document.
  • Claude’s a bit of a showoff Campaign ideation, audience insight, brainstorming, research and drafting content, this is where Claude really shines in the marketing workflow.
  • Claude’s not quite ready for management Judgement and human experience are where a marketing team adds. You provide the value that AI alone can’t.

If you asked 100 different marketers what they think of AI, you’d get 100 different answers. If you managed to stay awake while they drone on, one thing you would definitely notice them all saying is that they’re not ignoring it.

According to McKinsey’s 2025 AI survey, regular AI use in at least one business function has climbed to 88%, from 78% the year before. And marketing and sales have continued to be among the functions gaining extra revenue from it.

So today, it seems AI is definitely in. The next question for you is, ‘Which platform deserves a place on my desktop?’

Claude, from Anthropic, is one of the most popular AIs (trust us, we checked). So we wanted to take a look at what it’s good for, how it stacks up against the alternatives, and where it fits into your digital marketing workflow. Thinking about getting to know Claude? This one’s for you.

Where Claude Tends to Stand Out

A lot of people praise Claude’s writing for sounding less like AI, and for following detailed style instructions with unusual precision. Wherever tone matters, especially in the copywriting department, Claude is what you can turn to for writing help.

What People Actually Use Claude For

Before we zero in on marketing, it’s worth stepping back to take a broader look at what Claude covers. Anthropic’s own usage research, from The Anthropic Economic Index, gives us an interesting view, reporting that 93% of Claude conversations conclude with a usable output. That means people use Claude to get things like documents and code, and not just to chat.

Coding and technical tasks. If you’ve got a dev team, they’re probably already using Claude for quick scripts, debugging, and explaining code nobody’s touched in a year.

Research and analysis. You can feed Claude complex or messy information in return for detailed summaries.

Writing and editing. From the first draft to the final edit, you can use Claude to flesh out, tighten, and restructure copy as needed.

Claude for Marketing: Where It Really Shines

What is Claude AI good for in marketing? Here are three big areas:

Brainstorming and ideation: From campaign concepts, headline ideas, and creative angles, Claude is an excellent sounding board for all your thoughts. Although Claude might not hand you your final idea, it can help you get there faster.

Research and audience insight: From analysing competitors to drafting audience personas, or taking in customer feedback, Claude can find themes and help strategists make sense of the noise.

Written content: From short ad copy to long-form content, Claude can help with the research and take the sting out of writing that dreaded first draft. It won’t nail your brand voice on the first go. But it gets you beyond the blank page right away.

          Different sides to Claude

Anthropic doesn’t just offer one model; Claude’s a multi-faceted AI tool. Different tiers can help you with different tasks. For lightweight tasks, there’s Haiku, built to handle quick, high-volume workflow, e.g., batching out social captions, tagging content or turning drafts around in a flash. In the middle, there’s Sonnet, the most balanced and versatile model, perfect for everyday marketing work, including writing, brainstorming and research. At the top of the pyramid is Opus. This is heavy-duty Claude, what you’d use for long client-facing documents or dense research, all the hard, highest-stakes work.

The main point a marketing team needs to remember is that not every task requires the same amount of AI horsepower. Use Opus for everything, and you’re paying for power you don’t need. Use Haiku for everything, and your best work suffers. Match the model to the job.

          Where Human Expertise Still Matters

Anyone in a marketing department knows that AI can’t really replace them, so long as their judgment is what guides AI workflow. As clever as Claude is, it doesn’t know your brand’s history, your client’s risk tolerance, or the unspoken reason a campaign concept won’t land. It can draft and brainstorm at speed. But knowing which draft… that’s your job.

Claude’s Only As Effective As Whoever’s Handing It Tasks

AI is a genuine capability multiplier, but only in the hands of people who know how to direct it. So, if you’re weighing up how AI fits into your marketing, or just want a second opinion on what’s worth automating and what isn’t, we can help.
