Tips For A Successful Facebook Campaign

Facebook is one of the most cost effective ways of advertising and the most popular. With over 2 billion active daily users, you have the potential to reach a hell of a lot of customers at once but in order to be successful, you need to make sure you do it right. Here, we give you some tips on exactly how to do this;

First things first, you need to pick an advertisement format. Whether you want to use a video advert or a carousel advert (up to 10 images), deciding this is important because it will have a big impact on the success of your campaign. If you’re struggling to decide, consider what message you want to get across and the resources you have to hand.

  • When choosing an image to use, make sure it is relevant and eye-catching.

  • If you decide on a video, add subtitles so those who don’t have sound can also engage with it.

  • Carousel style adverts are great for retail companies as you can display up to 10 images within a single advert.

Now… to the tips!

Tip #1 - Imagery

The success of your ad campaign will depend on whether it catches a users eye as they scroll through their newsfeed. When selecting or shooting your artwork, you need to consider your audience and the ad format. Facebook Image Rules dictate that no more than 20% of your image should be text. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t use more than 20% text in your image, it just means your advert may not perform as well.

Keep images bright, visually pleasing and relevant!

Tip #2 - Text

Text forms a crucial component to your Facebook Advert, this is the first thing your potential customers see so you need to make sure you have written some killer ad copy! Ensure you include relevant product/service information for example, a ‘Money Back Guarantee’, as this will help to give potential customers the information they need in order to convert.

Along with the main text body, you also have a headline which you should use to drive people to click your call-to-action and a link description which you should use to provide a longer description of your product/service.

TIP #3 - Budget and Audience

One of the factors which depends on your Facebook Ad success is the amount of budget you have available. Facebook allows you to either set a daily budget, which is appropriate for shorter running ads or a lifetime budget which allows you to put a maximum spend for a set period.

Setting the budget is completely up to you and it depends on various factors such as Location, Audience, Ad Run Period, etc. You can always update your budget whilst your adverts are running if you decide you’d like to spend more or less than you originally intended.

Audiences are also extremely important when it comes to Facebook Advertising. With hundreds of available targeting options from age to interests, there is lots to take into consideration when setting up your campaigns. If you don’t already have a clear customer persona then it is worthwhile taking a look at your current customers in greater detail.

Interests help to niche down your audience targeting but just make sure they relate to your products or services so you only reach potential customers.

As a Small Business Owner, Facebook has made it very easy for you to set up your own advertising campaigns.
